To help us celebrate the closing of this year's 2008 Festival in style, critically acclaimed Dub poet Lillian Allen with Jarret Prescott will perform at Dominion on Queen. We will also be screening the 3D Live Animation films made in the course of our 2-day workshop, where workshop participants are featured as actors within the historic and future world depiction of Regent Park.

Lillian Allen emerged as a leading influential figure on the Canadian cultural landscape. She is an award winning and internationally renowned poet and writer of short stories and Plays. As one of its lead originator, she has specialized in the writing and performing of dub poetry, a highly politicized form of poetry, which is sometimes set to music. Her recordings 'Revolutionary Tea Party' and 'Conditions Critical' won Juno awards in 1986 and 1988 respectively. She is a leading expert on cultural diversity and culture in Canada and has been a consultant and advisor to all levels of government, to several institutions, and to community groups. She has initiated and facilitated the establishment of a number of organizations in various culturally diverse communities, and has worked within several established organizations to create access and change. Currently, she is the Artistic Director of the Dub Poets Collective and Professor of Creative Writing at the Ontario College of Art & Design
Jarret Prescott has produced and performed music for film, theatre, television and radio for the past 8 years based out of Peterborough Ontario. Performing and touring with his own musical project called "the Fire Flower Revue", much of his time has been divided evenly between band and soundtrack work. He has also performed with and backed up Canadian dub poets such as Chet Singh and Lillian Allen. Over the years, he has collaborated with many artists and activists who have fought for issues surrounding social Justice and the promotion of equality.
